SAGDB’s Border manager to play in world finals

Millie Zim, the SAGDB's development manager for Border, has qualified to play in the world finals of the Peugeot Challenge Cup. She won the national finals towards the end of February to earn her place at event in Paris.

The finals are contested in a Pro-Am format at two of France’s most prestigious courses.

Zim's road to Paris started at the regional qualifying round in Port Elizabeth. Playing at the PE Golf Club, she won the regional event by scoring 42 stableford points.

She then went on to the national finals at the Wanderers, where she competed against the 27 ladies regional winners from across the country. Her round of one-over par off a six handicap was good enough for 41 stableford points and first place.

This will not be Zim's first appearance at an international amateur tournament, as she played in BMW Golf Cup International finals in Sydney, Australia in 2004. She hopes that that experience will stand her in good stead.

As the 2008 Peugeot event was won by the South African team, Zim hopes to emulate this feat.

"I want to play well and win it for South Africa, because we are the defending champions," she said. “If I can in it again that will be a bonus!"
