Three SAGDB boys in WP invitational team
Three players from the SA Golf Development Board (SAGDB) were included in the recent WP Invitational u/13 team that competed in an inter-provincial event in the Boland. 12-year old Dylan Scholtz and 13-year olds Riaan Beukes and Chesley Gamba were chosen for the team on the strength of their performances in Junior Golf Foundation events.
Dylan and Riaan both hail from Somerset West, where Dylan attends school at Danie Ackermann Primary and Riaan is at Infant Jesus Primary. Chesley is a learner at Nooitgedacht Primary in Belhar.
"The exposure to tournaments of this nature helps the boys with their self confidence,"says SAGDB development manager Rodney Hess. "They competed against the top players and this helped them to realise what is required to play and compete at the top level."
About the SAGDB: Founded in 1999, the SA Golf Development Board (SAGDB) is the only body officially tasked with growing the game of golf in South Africa. The SAGDB is a non-profit organisation (with section 18A donations tax exemption status) and is fully endorsed by government and all of South Africa's official golfing bodies. Through its PGA-approved coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 3,500 children per week in ten regions. The SAGDB is sponsored by SAA, City Lodge, the Pro Shop, ProRange and ExpandaSign.
