16-year old Chandre Roberts was the surprise selection for the Southern Cape women's golf team that competed in a recent triangular tournament against Western Province and Boland in Plettenberg Bay. Chandre was chosen for the team after impressing coach Val Holland at provincial squad practices.

Three players from the SA Golf Development Board put in strong performances at the recent Southern Cape Amateur Championship. 16-year old Chandre Roberts from Heidelberg, 15-year old Charisa Lamprecht from George and 14-year old Dionique du Plessis, also from George, were not overshadowed by their more experienced opponents.

At the end of last year, Free State teenagers Ntsoaki Mokoena and Zanele Mazibuko qualified for residential scholarships through the Department of Sport & Recreation to attend the TuksGolf Junior Academy at the High Performance Centre Academy (hpc) at the University of Pretoria.

About the SAGDB
The SAGDB is a non-profit organisation (with section 18A donations tax exemption status). Through its PGA-approved coaching programme, the board currently has the capacity to coach 1,500 children per week in nine areas. The SAGDB is sponsored by SAA, City Lodge and ProRange.
