Cedric Rooi and Jacquin Hess are two of the SA Golf Development Board's (SAGDB's) top flag bearers. The two players from Boland have continued to perform admirably since their graduation from the national coaching programme a few years ago and have now been rewarded with selection to the six-player South African Universities team.
The two were picked to compete at the Golf World University Championships taking place in Spain from the 7th to the 11th of June 2010. Both youngsters are students at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology.
"This represents a major milestone in the golfing careers of these two young players," said the SAGDB development manager for Boland, Andre Rossouw. "If you consider their backgrounds, it is amazing how far they have come. We as the SAGDB can be proud to be associated with them."
Their selection follows strong performances throughout 2009 and 2010, during which time they have both earned recognition at provincial u/23 level and recorded good scores at amateur golf events.
